Q1 How to achieve the best performance of GPS?
A1 Please Tick the option "Enable updates"
and "Initiate GPRS connection for Updates"
to update the Quick GPS connection information every 48 hours. For all

for detail setting parameters.
Q2 My GPS seems do not working properly?
A2 We provide a GPS status checking program, GPSviewer
for trouble shooting of GPS. Please install this program and reference
to Chapter 8 of full Manual
for further details.
Q3 How can I install MapKing and process the online registration
? Is this a very complicated process ?
A3 Please follow installation and registration procedures . MapKing
is a matured product with a great number of copies sold already so you
need not worry about this.
Q4 My pocket PC has suffered a fatal system crash and I am forced
to do a full scale system reset that wipes out all previous installed
software including MapKing. Unfortunately, I forgot to keep a record of
my registration codes. What should I do ?
A4 Please send an email of "MapKing Registration
Code Request " with your purchased map name and its product
authorization code and the MKID to our Service Centre: service@mapasia.com.
Please free feel to provide your contact phone number in case of any insufficient
details.
After verification of your personal information, you will receive an email
with the valid registration code within 3 days. Besides, you can obtain
your registration information online by visiting the registration page
of MapKing website http://www.mapking.com
and enter the section of "Forget the Registration Code"
Q5 I have bought the Hong Kong Street Map. When I launch MapKing,
why do I only see the demo Map that only covers a small area in Hong Kong
instead of the full map ?
A5 The demo map is installed automatically when you install the
MapKing program. Its purpose is to let you verify that MapKing has been
properly installed before you get a chance to obtain registration code
for the map product(s) you purchased. If you have purchased the Hong Kong
Street Map that comes in a file size of approximately 11MB, you should
open it directly from the My Documents folder. We advise you to delete
the demo map because it does not serve any purpose in case you have purchased
the full scale Hong Kong map.
Q6 Where can I find information about new map products and updates
to existing maps ?
A6 Please visit http://www.mapking.com
for information about new products
and updates. We will also send e-mails to registered users when we have
new products or updates released.
Q7 How often do you release update to existing maps ?
A7 Maps are updated approximately once a year.
Q8 Are updates free for existing users ?
A8 We have different update policy for different map products.
In general, all updates released within 3 months are provided free of
charge to Retail Customers.Bundle maps do not have any free upgrade. If
you are a registered user you will receive e-mail notification when there
is an update available for the product(s) you have purchased.
Q9 Any hints that could make Route Planning run more smoothly
?
A9 Since Route Planning is calculated from the embedded road
network data, you should place the routing points either on top of or
very close to the street lines.
Q10 I wonder whether my existing GPS receiver or the GPS receiver
I plan to buy is compatible with MapKing ?
A10 MapKing supports the standard data output protocol of NMEA0183
used by virtually all civilian GPS receivers. Compatibility issue mainly
occurs on the hardware interface platform between your pocket PC and the
GPS receiver. You should consult the technical specifications or the dealer
of your pocket PC and receiver to make sure that the two can be connected.
Problem might occur if you have a Compact Flash type of Receiver whereas
your pocket PC has no Compact Flash slot.
Q11 Is there anything I must do before I can start using GPS
tracking ?
A11 You must "scan" your receiver before you use it
for the first time. This is a one-off handshaking process to let the system
recognize signals feeding from the receiver. Follow steps detailed in
page 21 to carry out the "scan" process.
Q12 GPS Status Window says "GPS is warming up..", I've
been waiting for a long time and still couldn't get any positioning signal
at all.
A12 Please acquire the initial GPS signals at a spot with a clear
view of the sky and away from high-rising building structure. Acquiring
the initial satellite fix is called "Cold Boot" in GPS terminology
and the process might take more than a few minutes. If you cannot get
any signal even trying to do so at a good reception spot and there is
no error message while "scanning" your receiver, you might have
a faulty receiver and you should contact the device dealer for a maintenance
checkup.
Q13 Is there a rough estimation about the accuracy of GPS signals
?
A13 Average precision at good reception spot is about 10-15 meters.
This is however a rough estimation NOT based on scientific research.
Q14 In MapKingG10 how to Simulate the track log?
A14 Choose " Load" in the "By User" Mode, and open
track log file (.tr7), Change to "Track Log" mode, a number
will appear next to "Track Play". Press "OK" on the
upper right corner, choose "GPS" on the lower right corner and
the track log simulation will start.
Q15 I like MapKing but I need a more sophisticated mapping tool
that allows me to create multiple map layers not just for point objects
( My-POI ), but line and region objects as well. I also want to expand
the data field structure of My-POI. Do you have any suggestion ?
